I happened to look at the sky
(as I often do with an uneasy mind),
and saw you smiling
(as you always do regardless of mood),
in an all-black October sky
(as they always appear in the haunted hours)—
I heard you singing me into madness—
that happy delirium which bangs at the doors
(and which I usually ignore)—
for a time, smiler, I answered you
(as I often do when the moon glares brightly)—
I sang and even danced a bit
(as I usually do when madness grins)
and I embraced this game—
this madness I chase, this chase I laugh at—
since I must—
to be sane.

Love it!! You are so talented!
I love reading your work, Sam. Your use of dashes and such reminded me of Emily Dickinson :) Hope the party Friday is a blast! xoxo
