you've been together how long?

By the way, Happy Anniversay Sweetie

What a sneaky potlicker I'm being right now. (If you're curious about "potlicker," by the way, watch "The Sandlot" again. I think Hamilton "the Ham" Porter's actual word is "puss-licker," but I've been saying "potlicker" for so long that it kinda stuck. Must have been saying it since about 12 years old. Anyway.) Guess what? Clint and I have recently passed 1st year status! Woohoo! Which is weird. It seems like we might have gotten married just this summer for how fast it's gone by. We went up to Park City for a night during the week of our anniversary for a very rustic, charming, and peaceful getaway. Park City is supposedly this hub during the winter months (go figure. I mean, whatever for?) but it's seriously under-rated during summer. It was so pretty and the hotel was a lot cheaper than usual and it's just so quaint and romantic. And I'm only now getting around to showing pictures from this most notable day.

Main street.
Wow. Could you sum up my husband in a more concise and accurate way? Well, doy, I mean...of course. But this T-shirt really is so him. I couldn't resist buying it.
Ha ha. The shop was closed or else I would have bought this one too. Except...uh...it's not a T-shirt...
This was our "suite." Kitchen with all the amenities, swiveling TV, bathroom with a built-in sauna and hot tub w/ jets. Yeah, I know. We were pretty impressed.

And what anniversary celebration would be complete without some Cold Stone ice cream to commemorate the time I almost died on one of our dates choking on my oreo-strawberry-heaven-in-a-waffle-cone?

We have had a great time. And actually, now that I think about it, this is the perfect day for me to be blogging about our wedding anniversary because today happens to be our 3-year anniversary of our very first date! Which happens to be the very first day we laid eyes on each other! Which also happens to be known as the day that God dropped off my husband on my doorstep with a gift tag on his forehead saying, "Dear Samantha, I love you so incredibly magnificently unbelievably fantastically flabbergastingly overwhelmingly much... Here, meet Clint."

Babe, I love you so so much.

Cabin Trip in November

My mom's side of the family owns a cabin up Weber Canyon, almost right on the river. And, well...in the winter no one in the family ever seems to use it except for Clint and I! This is totally ok with us, because it means that we can drag a mattress in front of the fire, pop popcorn, play Scrabble, and sleep right next to the fire. (Of course our clothes smell very pungently of woodsmoke when we get home.) There is also a really FANTASTIC hill for sledding and plenty of isolated roads for cross-country skiing. This most recent time when we went, though, there wasn't quite enough snow yet for outdoor activities so we stayed in the cozy cabin and hung out by the fire. Which I'm actually just dandy with. It felt so much like a vacation--even though it was just one night--that we took a few pictures:
Mmm...cozy!!!

I have such fun memories of the cabin with my cousins and uncles and aunts growing up here. It's aways been my favorite summer vacation. The very warm, fuzzy place in my heart for the cabin just keeps expanding in fuzziness since I discovered how delightful it can be in the winter as well, and how fun it is to hang out anywhere with Clint! I know--what a sap, huh?

Halloween Hijinks!

For my birthday this year my cousin treated me to a juicy Halloween extravaganza: the Halloween Hijinks, which apparently the Utah Symphony does every year @ Abravanel Hall. It was pretty fun. Let me explain. The reason why I don't gush over with joyous enthusiasms for a production centered around Halloween celebration is because, well...let's be honest. I was kinda hoping for a symphonic twist on some "Nightmare Before Christmas" music or something similar. Spooky and gothy. But, instead, they did a short excerpt from a German composer, Humperdinck's, opera of "Hansel and Gretel." which was ok. I mean, that witch's face was really green. But the funnest part of the night was being surrounded by people in over-the-top costumes. And of course the costume contest which was conducted on stage while the audience voted by loudness of applause. I have a few pics from the double date (my camera decided to stop functioning inside Abravanel Hall, which is atrociously unfortunate and I still haven't forgiven it):

My dear cousin Emilie and her friend Jonathan who, I must say, made pretty convincing and dang freaky vamps.

Clint doing the cowboy thing while I try to make my best sorceress face.

And here is the actual Halloween night:
Um, no...we didn't dress to match. Case you were wondering.
Sister Allie, me, Sister Liz on Halloween night.

Me and my baby sister Jenni.

I was so excited to cast spells with my hand eye ball!

I have no comment for this one.
