shout out to my love

I have to say it, with full understanding that such an announcement is bound to shock the earth to its very core and cause boiling magna to spontaneously erupt:

My Clint is the most awesome person in the world!

He has finally and most decidely converted me to Valentine's Dayitis, for one thing. I've never looked forward to the day much, & the past couple of years since knowing Clint have struggled with some mixed emotions about it! Clint knows what I'm talking about. I'm a silly girl who will probably never be disillusioned from my Disneyesque fantasies, & Clint works like a soldier to make sure it stays that way! What a job!

We had the most wonderful weekend over Valentine's & President's Day. Not to say that the stars were aligned & we were able to ditch the world & all its cares -- quite the contrary!

Saturday loomed full of non-Valentinish activities, including a basketball game for Clint, Clint's Sunday lesson to prepare, & lots of homework. And an engagement in the afternoon preventing me from readying several surprise desserts & presents I had been looking forward to presenting to Clint in the effort to transform Valentine's into a more guy-friendly holiday. It was a rush & tumble day. But we managed to do what we had to, we attended the Draper Temple open house, we enjoyed a romantic dinner at our favorite "favorite special place"--(there are several "favorite special places)--Macaroni Grill, we exchanged gifts afterwards, ate my hastily-prepared concoctions, & spent a cozy evening cuddled up in our own place. (I swear I'll never get over how awesome it is to be married & have our own place together!) I don't know how he does it, but my huz has a miraculous way of making me feel like he's got all the time in the world for me.

Clint gave his lesson on Sunday, which relieved a bunch of stress & we relaxed again Sunday evening. And then on Monday, we both took the day off work and indulged in a snowshoe trip up Dog Lake! Some romance, huh? I may be crazy according to some chicks, but I'll tell you what. That kind of stuff is totally romantic with Clint! We talk, we get some exercise, we take pictures of magical, wintry scenes that most people never get out to see during the winter, & we reward ourselves by sledding all the way back down the trail. We get plenty of jealous looks from people hiking up, too! So after working off a healthy portion of our cabin fever (& our multiple Valentine's desserts), we decided to celebrate Clint's lack of homeworkness & had ourselves a gloriously lazy movie marathon! Just 2 movies, but hey--that's a luxury these days.

One can't help but notice how simple activities are transformed into gratifying, romantic, & self-reaffirming epiphanies when you're in the company of the most amazing person in the world. Hmm...

Is it really just another crush?

David Archuleta is the shiz.
He makes me proud to be a teenie bopper. I told Clint this last night
and he said, "Isn't he the reason why you're a teenie bopper?"
Well...yeah!

He's 17, adorable, and rich as schmuck. Dang him.

for the love of credit

I lost my wallet last week. I think it went missing some time Tuesday night, though I could account for every place I'd been with my wallet since Tuesday night & none of the places I called or visited had found the wallet. I told Clint, "There's only so many places where I've been!" And even less places where I would have actually taken my wallet out of its purse. Like my parents' house. "Hey, Pops, trade ya my DSW Shoes gift card for the leftover lasagna." Right.

I had everything in my wallet. Bank cards, checkbook, driver's license, stamps, credit cards, gift cards from Christmas, and...my social. That was the worst stress of them all. I was sick with it. So I called on my credit cards. Close it. Cancel it. And my checkbook. Caution on my account. And my credit. Flag it for 90. That relieved some of the stress, but not nearly enough. I kept imagining all the time & energy that I would spend re-acquiring everything that had been in my chunk of an over-sized wallet. "I'll have to actually wake up one morning and do my make-up to go and get another picture taken for my driver's license! Gaah!"

So, on the verge of mental & emotional collapse no. 17 on Friday afternoon, I went to make one last round of desperate & utterly hopeless searches. The plan was: Gold's Gym, new library cards, then new Blockbuster card. Well, someone should have told me that when you discover you're missing something valuable & you're incapable of patience & you absolutely MUST search your car that very night, well then it's a good idea to bring a large flashlight & check it in earnest the next morning as well because chances are you'll overlook even something as bulky & unmistakeable as a wallet. To my credit, though (no pun intended), even in broad daylight I didn't see the wallet at first. I had already gotten in the car, driven to the gym, opened the door & gotten out of the car when something a slightly darker shade of red than my cherry-bright car hit my eye. It was wedged in between the driver's seat & the frame of the car. You wouldn't know I was in a public parking lot by the way I sat right down & laugh-bawled. I'm sure the mother leading her little toddler out of the gym day-care thought I'd lost it. Well, she would have been right if "finding it again" was implied in "losing it."

So this is my story of being the most Ultimate Space Case I have ever known personally. (Except for maybe my 20-year-old sister whom no one in my family is sure whether she knows south from west. Love ya, girl.) Note to self: buy purses with zipper or velcro closure.
